Rob Glazebrook post an article about one more Internet Explorer bug. He writes:
A while back when I was working on developing the jQuery popout tutorials, I ran across a significant and annoying bug in Internet Explorer 6 and 7. Specifically, Internet Explorer does not respect the height and width properties of block-level, absolutely positioned anchor tags if they contain no content (or if that content has been moved or removed).

John Resig tells about the new real-time editor - EtherPad. He writes:
I had the opportunity, last year, to talk with the team behind AppJet. They're building something quite cool: A simple platform for developing reusable server-side applications written completely in JavaScript.
They've come a long way since I originally wrote about them late last year. They now even provide a copy of their server-side software along with the full source. This, together with Aptana's Jaxer, means that there is, at least, two high-powered, Open Source, JavaScript server platforms.
Pad is something new altogether. Building upon their existing platform, and adding in Comet streaming, they've constructed a completely real-time, multi-user, text and JavaScript editor.

Scott Mitchell post an article in which he shows how to use the Google Chart API with ASP.NET. He writes:
I've always wondered how the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words" came about. I like to think that it was coined by some mid-level manager viewing a sales figures report that consisted of metrics from the past 1,000 days. After scanning this long list of numbers, he found, at the bottom of the page, a line chart that summarized the numbers, and uttered that now well-known adage. Charts and graphs provide a succinct synopsis of large amounts of data. With charts a person can quickly spot trends, compare different resultsets, or recognize patterns.

SmartGWT 1.0 release. Here's excerpt from official announce:
So what's so smart about SmartGWT? Let me try to explain. SmartGWT is not just another Widget library. While most Ajax frameworks focus primarily on presentation and displaying mostly read-only data, either local or via XML / JSON, SmartClient was built with server side integration in mind. Most enterprise applications are not just about about data presentation, but about being able to propagate data changes made by the user to the backend. So while its tempting to use library X that has a cool tree widget, it's not until you actually try to use it your application that you encounter the real world hard problems.

Zend Framework 1.7.0 released. Here's short excerpt from official announce:
Today, we released Zend Framework 1.7.0. This release features AMF support, JQuery support, and Twitter support, among numerous other offerings.
For this particular release, we tried very hard to leverage the community. The majority of new features present in 1.7.0 are from community proposals, or were primarily driven by community contributors. For me, this represents a milestone: ZF is now at a stage where fewer and fewer core components are necessary, and the community is able to build off it and add extra value to the project.

Harry Pierson post an article in which he gives short introductuion to IronPython. He writes:
Back before version 1.0 of the CLR shipped, Microsoft engaged a variety of commercial and academic organizations to produce languages that ran on .NET; an effort code-named "Project 7." One of those languages was Python for .NET, developed by ActiveState. That worked, but Project 7 discovered that the "speed of the current system is so low as to render the current implementation useless for anything beyond demonstration purposes.1" Furthermore, while they blamed some of the performance problems on "the simple implementation of the Python for .NET compiler", they also claimed that "[s]ome of the blame for this slow performance lies in the domain of .NET internals and Reflection::Emit".

I've been watching, with interest, developers create new applications for the iPhone. Owning one myself - and being knowledgeable in JavaScript - I've been wondering what options there were for creating downloadable JavaScript applications or the iPhone. Michael Mahemoff has created JavaScript library for generating GUIDs. He writes
Guid0 is a GUID library for Javascript. Okay, it doesn't yet do official, bona fide, 128-bit, GUIDs yet, mainly for API design reasons. But this is a library you might find useful if you want to generate a unique ID in your Ajax app.
